Self Storage FAQ

Frequently Asked questions and everything you need to know about storing with Big Padlock

What is self storage?

It’s a convenient and flexible ‘store it yourself’ solution for your household goods or business assets. Big Padlock Self Storage provide secure, clean and dry storage room available in a range of sizes. You are responsible for storing your goods or assets in your own dedicated unit which is locked using your own padlock to ensure only you have access to your goods.

What do I need to bring to start storing?

Please bring the following:

  • Two forms of ID, one photographic (driver’s licence, passport) and the other must have your address on it (utility bill)
  • Payment (bank account information, credit/debit card)
  • An alternative contact name, address and phone number
  • A padlock (we sell these separately as they’re not included as part of your storage package)
  • An estimate of the replacement value of goods to be stored (on a new for old basis)
  • Insurance Schedule so we may verify your goods are insured throughout the storage duration. If you do not have appropriate insurance protection we sell insurance protection to meet your requirements
How much does it cost to store my things with you?

Storage costs depend on the unit size required. We suggest you look at our Space Calculator or speak with a member of staff to determine the optimum storage unit size and we may then provide a quotation.

The price quoted by our team includes storage rental and does not include a padlock, packaging or insurance protection for your goods.

Your goods are not insured automatically. Your goods must be insured throughout the storage duration and we will offer you suitable insurance protection in which cover is on a new for old basis.
